Reggaeton originated in Puerto Rico in the late 1990s, built around the distinctive “dembow” rhythm and combining Latin, Caribbean and hip hop influences into a sound that’s now one of the biggest genres in the world. It’s high-energy, bass-driven and built for dancing close together.
It’s a strong choice for parties and events with a younger or Latin-leaning crowd, and it pairs well with reggae, Latin house and open format sets across a night rather than needing to stand alone.
